2011 was a unique vintage, a longer cooler season, very akin to vintages in France, and perfect for old world style winemakers. Wines with a slightly different structure of higher acidity and lower alcohol with softer tannins.
“Both 2011 Rhone's (Grenache and Syrah) showcase that classic French style of earth and spice over red and purple fruits. Predominant flavors of dried earth, cooking spices and mocha/licorice come forward on these wines, with raspberry, cherry and blueberry in the background.”
2009 “The Beast” Bordeaux blend from Sonoma County: Our first mission in the garage, this wine shows the depth of our first effort, with strawberries and chocolate from Cabernet Franc; plum and tobacco from Cabernet Sauvignon, finally black cherry and cedar from Merlot and some of that classic raciness that you find in aged Bordeaux.
